EBOMAF-TOGO: Twelve (12) kilometres from Kara streets under oil concrete

RUE-IIRUE-IIIRUE-IVRUE-VIn several of the arteries of Kara, Togo's second-largest city, the vortexes of construction and road-laying machines are visible. Under the machines of EBOMAF, the capital of the Kosa prefecture changes its face. Its urbanity is enhanced with the work in progress.

About 10 employees of Tecno Firmes, the Spanish partner in the application of bitumen and about 15 workers of EBOMAF broken up in the activities of black (godron) have been on foot, since 21 June 2014, in Kara. With the combined effort of skilled technicians and workers, this team is at the forefront of the modernization of some of the most important streets in the country and the resurfacing of others. "This project is crucial to changing Kara's face and giving him his real place as the country's second city. The company conducting the work is known to be a leader in its field. The inhabitants measure all their ability to carry out quality works in a timely manner in this difficult period of rainy season," says a Public Works official.

A total of twelve (12) kilometres of streets are involved. The sections Chaminade College-Hotel Union, Carrefour Y-BECEAO-Pharmacy Espoir-EPP Centrale-Route Market, Luftansa-Hotel Kara-Radio Kara-Residence Prefect, Rond-point Police-RN1 will each benefit from a resurfacing with setting of the primers. As for the dirt roads made up of access roads to the new market in Kara, starting from RN1 and Tchaloudé-Pont Blanc, the streets of Radio Kara and the Lamena market, they are being developed and bitumen. The main road leading to the new Kara market is called to be a 2X2 boulevard with a width of seven (7) meters each with a central ground (TPC) of four (4) meters equipped with accomodations, sidewalks and channels. "With these achievements, moving to Kara will no longer be covered by the cross and banner. These will guarantee road safety and improve the living conditions of the people", says a merchant in the Luftansa district.

Under the coordination of Oumar Bonkoungou, construction manager, surrounded by Alassane Kagambèga, terrassier chief and Moumouni Tao, head of the topographical brigade, the execution of Kara's tasks is a real feat. The vehicle park at Kara Public Works gives an idea of the driving force with which the works are being discussed. "On instructions from the CEO, all the means were put at our disposal for Kara's work and we were ordered to execute them quickly and well," recalls Oumar Bonkoungou. Tank trucks, bulldozers, tanks and finishers stormed the various arteries involved in the work. After a few days of execution, the bituminous concrete has already taken 11 (11) kilometres by 30 June. In the meantime, the traditional Kabyè festival, "Evala", which takes place from 10 July, for a week, their main city is in the process of developing new skins, especially since sanitation works are being erected simultaneously in unhealthy areas.
