EBOMAF-GABON : Mahamadou Bonkoungou at the heart of the acceleration of major roadworks with President Oligui Nguema
The President of the Gabonese Republic, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, granted a hearing on Wednesday 26 March 2026 at the Presidential Palace of the Seafront in Mahamadou Bonkoungou, Burkina Faso businessman and CEO of the EBOMAF Group, a major partner of the Gabonese State in the development of infrastructure.
Introduced by the Minister of Public Works and Construction, Edgard Moukoumbi, the leader of the EBOMAF Group has had in-depth discussions with the Head of State on the progress of several structural road projects currently being carried out on the national territory. This work includes the Lébamba-Mbigou (84 km), Mbigo-Malingou-Molo (124 km), Yombi-Carrefour Rabi (125 km) and Rabi-Omboué (119 km), all carried out by the EBOMAF Group.
According to the Gabonese Presidency, these infrastructures are highly strategic in that they contribute to the opening up of areas with high economic potential, to the fluidisation of interregional trade and to the sustainable strengthening of the attractiveness of production areas. In this dynamic, President Oligui Nguema has shown a significant acceleration in the pace of work, while reaffirming his commitment to strict adherence to quality standards and contractual commitments on time.
At the end of this hearing, Mahamadou Bonkoungou did not make a statement to the press. For his part, the Minister of Public Works has announced the imminent deployment of a technical inspection mission to assess the conformity, reliability and quality of the ongoing construction sites.
No details were provided as to how these projects would be financed, in a context where some sources refer to the existence of arrears of payments by the Gabonese State to the EBOMAF Group.
In any event, these projects, which are among the national priorities, reflect the commitment of the Gabonese authorities to provide the country with a modern road network, a key lever for economic growth, territorial cohesion and national connectivity.
