Pr Alpha Condé, Président de la République de Guinée : « EBOMAF a été choisie sur la base de sa compétence»
The President of the Republic of Guinea, Professor Alpha Condé, did not go through four paths to signify, at the launch ceremony of the work of the Kissidougou-Kankan road, the meaning that he gives to the infrastructures in his national development programme and to recall that the successful undertaking did not benefit from any favours.
What reading does the President of the Republic, whom you are, give to the launch of the work on the Kissidougou-Kankan road?
Professor Alpha Condé (A.C.):There is no development without infrastructure. It is difficult to start real progress without roads that meet standards. Guinea is nearing the end of its programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). It has given itself the challenge of launching the construction of real infrastructure throughout the country. The roads, which we are called to build, are in serious bitumen (GB) and bituminous concrete (BB). These are works that can last between 20 to 30 years or even beyond. This infrastructure will enable our country, Guinea, to finally become a sustainable part of development.
How did EBOMAF choose to carry out this road project?
A.C.:The award of any such project shall be carried out after an open invitation to tender. The selection of companies is based on specific criteria. If EBOMAF has been retained, it is not by favouritism or any friendship for its CEO. It is simply because the technical and financial proposals convinced the Commission of the allocation. EBOMAF was selected on the basis of its expertise. All companies which have been awarded such work are subject to a specification which they must strictly observe. We were very clear with them. We will not hesitate to apply the existing legislation in full in case of failure. If ever, one of them is not up to it, we will simply cancel its contract.
