The rehabilitation of the country's first inland airport therefore requires special attention from the government.

The emergency phase of the project is expected to re-establish, as soon as possible, take-off and landing operations and related airport activities within the airport. As part of the regular review of the construction site, the Minister of Transport, Amadou Koné, asked about the progress of the works during a site visit on 28 October. The discussions with the monitoring mission, the National Bureau for Technical and Development Studies (BNETD), led by Patrice Agboïhoué, revealed that all the work was proceeding well. The quality of the equipment and the relevance of the work schedule did not leave the emissary of the Ivorian state indifferent. The technical touch of EBOMAF will increase the operating capacity of the terminal. This includes all the standards and specificities of a modern airport project with international standards. The aim is to renovate the facilities and refurbish the airstrip and access ramp.
The project consists of two main phases, the long-term objective of which is to develop an airstrip capable of supporting aircraft of more than 30 tonnes, as opposed to the old one involving aircraft of less than 20 tonnes.
