Rehabilitation of the Bd of 13 January: Operation "clean" before provisional reception
In a few days, the fully renovated Boulevard du 13-Janvier will undergo a provisional handover. Awaiting this preliminary step, marking the successful completion of the work, EBOMAF mobilized men and women to give this thoroughfare, now up to international standards, a much-needed cleaning. Equipped with brooms, rakes, and wheelbarrows, maintenance workers, all wearing vests, cleaned this stretch of road, a source of pride for the city of Lomé, from end to end.
EBOMAF is adding to the beauty of Boulevard du 13-Janvier in the Togolese capital before provisionally handing the project over to the authorities. The work, which culminated in December 2011, has rehabilitated one of the most important and enigmatic thoroughfares in Lomé. With its wide roadway, drainage system, and daytime lighting, it has been given a thoroughly modern look. This aesthetic touch was enhanced by the work of the maintenance crews who covered the entire 5.2 kilometers of the thoroughfare, removing anything that might detract from its cleanliness. This sanitation operation, launched by the winning contractor, has significantly improved the already impressive appearance of this infrastructure. It is part of the provisional acceptance process, which is expected in the coming days.
Many months before this phase, marking EBOMAF's commitment to fulfilling its contract, was scheduled, the Boulevard du 13-Janvier had already regained its former glory, with bustling days and lively nights. Following the modernization of its road network, Lomé can be proud of having partnered with a leading public works company. The Burkinabe giant simply accomplished its task brilliantly. By the end of 2011, the project had reached its final stage. The paving of one of Lomé's busiest thoroughfares had just been completed, using resources never before seen in the Togolese construction sector. Combining reputation and renown, the Boulevard du 13-Janvier, commonly known as the ring road, is one of the capital's most ambitious paving projects. Its rehabilitation was deemed necessary given its central location and heavy traffic. After several months of extensive work, the road is now fully usable. Traffic flow has even improved, with a pleasant road surface and facilities that reflect comfort in every respect. It is now easy and safe to travel on, day and night. Shaped like an arc, Boulevard du 13-Janvier showcases EBOMAF's expertise in the flawless execution of major projects.
Admiration and satisfaction from all sides.
Today, all the residents of Lomé recognize the quality of the work accomplished. This unanimous appreciation is underpinned by their expression of pride. The locals of the large Bè district fervently hope to protect this "infrastructure gem." They urge all their compatriots to recognize its necessity, given that "traveling on this road offers every guarantee in terms of safety and urban road comfort." This is the first time Togo has entrusted an African, or even sub-regional, company with a project of this scale. EBOMAF's proven business capabilities have convinced many of the project's successful execution. Given this resounding success, a technical inspection team led by Togolese government officials announced that provisional acceptance could take place very soon. Some observers, who had harbored skepticism when the contract was awarded, are now beginning to admit their surprise.
The completion of the project has sparked a wave of admiration for EBOMAF. One director of a competing local company, for example, made no secret of his satisfaction: “Despite the underhanded tactics, threats, and intimidation, the captain of this ship held firm. And the result achieved by this African company is truly impressive. They deserve praise for this significant accomplishment. It’s very rare to find companies like this on the continent. Achieving such a result is no easy feat, especially in a country where entrepreneurs are treated like foreigners.” The thorough cleaning of the thoroughfare has garnered considerable attention from residents and commuters. This bustling area has become a major commercial hub. It has been a prime location for business since the section was completed.
However, this economic activity seems to disregard sanitation requirements. This presents a significant challenge for the company, which is forced to clean the thoroughfare almost daily. Considering the dual carriageways, a total of 10.28 kilometers were meticulously cleared of all kinds of garbage by EBOMAF, whose CEO, Mahamadou Bonkoungou, spared no effort in supporting the government's cleanup. He deployed additional resources to complete his mission. This cleanup, which took place last week, mobilized young vacationers, unemployed adults, and even senior citizens. This phase provides another source of income for the community, in addition to the well-paid jobs the project created during the allotted time. More than one hundred (100) people benefited from this two-hour cleanup effort.
