Atmosphere in Lomé: The Bd of 13 January in its night splendour
As soon as the rehabilitation works of the famous boulevard du 13-Janvier finished 99% that restaurants, maquis, night clubs and bazaars located along this artery regained the fullness of their night activities. This main route in the heart of Lomé has simply been restored to its effervescence.
The Togolese capital has found its mythical, noisy, charming and lively 13-Janvier boulevard. Restyled in accordance with international standards by the EBOMAF Group, this road brings together in itself all the ambitions of the current authorities in terms of various routes and networks: impeccable lighting, suitable channels, extended carriageways, full floor and paved carriageways. With this rehabilitation, Lomé has taken over the fabric of a real modernisation by providing its streets with comfort, security and tranquillity. And it is to the heart of joy that residents and users compete for the pleasant fallout of Boulevard du 13-Janvier."By day and night, this boulevard has become a real attraction pole. The streetlights erase any evidence of darkness. There is nothing to blame for the work that has been carried out to the letter to give this path its full charm. Some come there to enjoy the life of hot nights, others are there to do business», comments Régis Ekwé, a travelling merchant."Lomé by night",It's probably 13-Janvier Boulevard. It is in Lomé, what Kwamé-Nkrumah Avenue is in Ouagadougou. Located right in the city centre, this route is a link between the business district and the popular areas. It is supported from the seaside boulevard and extends for about 5.1 kilometres.
Lomé returns to the joy of 13 January
The effervescence is real and felt at any point in the artery. It is the crossroads of users of the Port, missionaries and tourists, girls of joy,Air conditionerspublic, ... In short, "livers"! The path does not deplete. It's a place of convergence."The relooking of this path makes our task easier. This has made life easier and helped reduce delinquency with public lighting which is no longer a vain word.", says Sonia, a nightclub waitress. Motorcycle taxis and vehicles take place in the middle of this beautiful world that rushes there night and day, 24 hours a day. Moreover, the boulevard du 13-Janvier is partly borrowed by the presidential procession for the Palais. It also houses the central police station, the main barracks of the gendarmerie, the headquarters of sub-regional institutions such as BOAD and BIDC, the headquarters of large national companies, etc. It is a strategic artery and frequented in several ways.
The renovation of the 13-Janvier, undertaken in January 2011, focused all attention. Trusted to the company EBOMAF which has already spread the evidence of its expertise in the Savanes region through the bridges of Tanloaga and Bontougou, the Dapaong-Ponio section, it consisted of an adaptation to the current requirements in terms of urban mobility and traffic, sanitation."The rehabilitation of 13 January combines sustainability and modernity. Various expertises have been set in motion to establish a futuristic work both in terms of traffic and living conditions. In addition to the sanitation and lighting tools that have been preferred to use underground pipelines, the pavement combines all the formulae: base layer, cement floor, severe bitumen, bitumen concrete",Jean Louis Roche, Technical Director, EBOMAF Group.
The construction site which retained the accession of the entire population was intended to put an end to the demise of the boulevard du 13-Janvier. This degradation has considerably tainted the welcoming image of Lomé. There remains only the "beautiful" stage, the laying of the pavements, which is already a reality on a long part of the boulevard."The rehabilitation of this artery was a national challenge. The work undertaken by President Faure Gnassingbé has greatly improved the face of our capital. They were able to gather the necessary resources and find the right company to conduct the project properly. The result is there and no one can deny its importance for a city like this that aspires to complete modernism.", salutes Nicéphore Adjagbé, teacher of high schools and colleges, motorcycle-taxi driver at his lost hours. Boulevard Agoè-BKS-Limousine-Adidogomè is also moving very fast. This urban bet held from this boulevard sounded the spring of major works in Togo in general and in the municipality of Lomé in particular.
