EBOMAF BENIN: a third market of CFAF 43.8 billion

COLODO ICOLODO IICOLODO IIICOLODO IVCOLODO VCOLODO VICOLODO VIIThe reputation of EBOMAF in the BTP is best displayed in Benin. After demonstrating its expertise in public works, the P-DG company, Mahamadou Bonkoungou, has just won in this country its third international tender of an amount of CFAF 43.8 billion HT to put to community standards a road of seventy-one (71) kilometers in the department of Mono-Couffo.

Twenty-four (24) months of work were deemed necessary to clear the road of COLODO, i.e. the Comè-Lokossa-Dogbo axis, from its current qualifiers of‘Aborted lane'or"Track to fatal accidents".More than chicken nests, it is hippopotamus holes that hinder the free movement of people and goods on this main axis of the Mono-Couffo department. And for the third time, Benin renewed its confidence in EBOMAF to carry out its rehabilitation."After an international tender, EBOMAF was selected to carry out the work according to a specifications in 24 months",said, Bonaventure Naton Aké, Minister of Public Works and Transportation.

This new challenge is the result of the guarantees given in the execution of the major works at the time when some partners are incapacitating notably on the realization of lot 1 (PK 00-11) of the project Bondjécali-Macadali-Iloua-Frontière of Nigeria (see box). Thanks to its civil engineering staff and its diverse range of state-of-the-art machinery, EBOMAF's construction sites always lead to high-quality infrastructure. His know-how continues to fascinate and convince more Beninese."We are an internationally renowned company with a proven and recognized expertise that constantly maintains our ability to deploy adequate human resources and material resources to meet the requirements of any type of road project. The one launched in Lokossa is no exception for us. Rest assured, it will be approached in serenity and with the same determination",supports Arouna Mouhamed, Director of Works at EBOMAF-BENIN.

The expertise of the Burkinabè company is therefore‘impatiently'expected on seventy-one (71) kilometers with this double bet: to put back the sixty-two (62) kilometers of the totally dilapidated and defective Comè-Lokossa-Dogbo road to Community standards, to develop a modern nine (9) kilometers track on the Zunhoue-Athiemé-Frontière of Togo. With a cost of CFAF 43.8 billion HT financed by the West African Development Bank (WADB), commercial banks and the national budget of the benin, the project will conclude with a road oil coating following profiles and characteristics selected for the sections and the shoulder.

"This day will remain memorable for present and future generations of our Mono-Couffo department as it translates the agreement of a long-standing heart cry and announces the end of a calvary"stressed Nakpa Sossou, Mayor of Lokossa and representative of elected representatives of the beneficiary localities. The‘Benin under construction',decreed at the beginning of his second term by President Thomas Yayi Boni, thus translates into concrete action in the departments of Mono-Couffo. For the beneficiary populations, it is an old dream that has become reality to finally see the installation of the site in front of a lasting solution to their mobility."The proper execution of this path is a requirement of democracy to better move towards emergence",added, Nakpa Sossou, spokesman for the mayors of Mono-Couffo.

Lokossa, head of the department, did not do in lace, Saturday 6 September, to reserve a fanfare reception to the President of the Republic who came in person to unveil the plaque of the official launch of the site. In a popular gag, his compatriots, who came out very numerous, acclaimed him in place of the Prefecture of Lokossa."We have engaged our country in an extensive programme of rehabilitation of the national road network so that the valiant populations have access to economic growth poles and can benefit more from trade facilitated by integration. To achieve this, people must adhere to the structuring projects and work to seize the opportunities they offer."urged the Head of State. EBOMAF has therefore established itself as a key player in President Yayi Boni's vision. The national flag and the company's fanion symbolically clinging to a bulldozer at the start of the work tell a lot about this fruitful partnership.
