EBOMAF-TOGO: New bridge under construction on the RN1 at Niamtougou
The President and Chief Executive Officer of the EBOMAF Group, Mahamadou Bonkoungou, made a site visit to northern Togo on Wednesday 12 April 2023. He was pleased to see the reconstruction of a new crossing at Niamtougou. This pick-up turns out to be a master move.

After examining the condition of a bridge on RN 1 following a terrible accident on February 16, 2023, the Togolese government entrusted EBOMAF with the implementation of a new 40-metre long crossing structure to replace the damaged bridge. In view of the stakes for this corridor which serves the countries of the hinterland, the expertise of Mahamadou Bonkoungou's company was once again asked to combine speed and quality of work.

The implementation of this new project required, as a first step, the development of a deviation to maintain the continuity of traffic on the section. After a few weeks of intense civil engineering activities, this part of the work ended with the erection of a temporary bridge.

Unlike the dirt roads that characterize the tracks in this region, the deviation has been completely bitumen in order to offer better comfort to users. The CEO of EBOMAF Group, Mahamadou Bonkoungou, did not fail to explain the validity of this choice during his inspection tour. "The specifications provided for a ground deviation on the six hundred (600) linear meters, well recycled and compacted. However, after careful reflection, we decided to build a road with a temporary bridge resistant for several reasons. Indeed, with the rainy season approaching, it will be difficult for users, especially large carriers, to move easily on a laterite deviation. As the risks of accidents, blockages due to breakdowns or even floods will be high", he justified.

In short, the detour route, which has been completely damaged, avoids repeated watering thanks to its road safety facilities. Measures have been taken to ensure that signs are optimal at the opening of the deviation in order to make it accessible and visible by day and by night.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the EBOMAF Group, Mahamadou Bonkoungou, said that the reconstruction of the bridge on the RN1 at Niamtougou level will be carried out with all the rules of the art, 24 hours a day, with a view to respecting the deadlines with diligence. The BTP magnate completed its site visit to North Togo with a review of activities on the Pya-Sarakawa-Kanté section. This road project, which is experiencing a great drive through a significant advance, nevertheless remains confronted with the thorny question of network displacement.
