EBOMAF-BF: Two work fronts to quickly bypass Ouagadougou
The North-South bypass of the city of Ouagadougou is taking a big step. Started on 4 October 2019 with the start of the clearance of the right-of-way, this pharaoh site has since been led by the contracting company. The aim is to build and build a modern road in the form of a large boulevard on one hundred and twenty-five (125) kilometres, each of which is 2x2 lanes of 7 m with a central plain (TPC) of 10 m wide and equipped with agglomeration of bicycle strips and dockings of the order of 3 m on both sides.
Work is carried out simultaneously on two fronts. On one side, the Contournement Sud construction site from Gamplela (RN4) to Yimdi (RN1) via Koubri (RN5) and the Route de Léo (RN06). On the other hand, there is the North Contour from Gampélà (RN04) to Yimdi (RN01) via Loumbila (RN03), Pabré (RN22), Route de Ouahigouya (RN02). The first part extends over fifty-nine (59) kilometres and the second over sixty-six (66) kilometres.
Each front is built into a self-contained construction site with a living base with an impressive fleet of vehicles, various installations (concrete plants), a large staff. Besides other installations such as concrete power plants and granite crushing quarry. From Gamplela (RN04), the assault on the works was launched. Two semi-circles are taking shape on the north and south sides to belt the city of Ouagadougou.
The various activities are in full swing to offer Burkina Faso and its capital, Ouagadougou, one of its most important and most beautiful road infrastructure ever realized. The Kombissiri quarry and the concrete power plants run at full speed. Nearly a thousand workers, all categories, are on foot to carry out the various activities. Work is currently focused on earthworks and art works.
At an overall cost of CFAF 180 billion, the North-South bypass boulevard will have a noble pavement. That is, it will be built to last as long as possible. Indeed, the structure is composed of foundation based on litho-stable materials mixed with crushed from the quarry. The base is in serious bitumen (GB) with a asphalt concrete (BB) coating.
