Closure of work at RN 14: The Koudougou-Dédougou road is fully open to traffic

The development and construction project National Road 14, linking Koudougou to Dédougou, is nearing completion. At the end of the contract period which runs since November 30, 2013, a modern track offers uninterrupted access to the track users. Traffic continues to increase.

Work on the Koudougou-Dédougou road has been completed. To date, the construction site has been officially closed. Many users must have seen this. Beyond the first beneficiaries who are the inhabitants of the Boucle du Mouhoun, the new road is doing a lot of service these days. Due to the rehabilitation of the Sakoinsé-Boromo section on the RN 1 (Ougadougou-Bobo Dioulasso), RN 14 is currently the ideal forklift to easily reach the economic capital and vice versa. It hosts a significant part of RN1's normal traffic daily. From now on, it is with ease that carriers and individuals travel the hundred-thirty (130) kilometers in less than two (2) hours compared to more than five (5) hours before.

1Thanks to the development and construction of the track started in the last quarter of 2010, the thorn of enclavement was removed from the mobility of the inhabitants of this part of the country. The pitfalls and obstacles, formerly linked to its flaw, were raised by EBOMAF and placed in the lot of distant bad memories. The route is completely clear. With all amenities, the Koudougou-Dédougou axis lends itself pleasantly to traffic. The track is completely paved according to the gravillage system i.e. a two-layered, surface-coated pavement. Dédougou is becoming one of the best-served cities in the country. The traditional large transport companies, TCV, STAF or TSR, now open stations. They offer Ouagadougou-Koudougou-Dédougou-Bobo Dioulasso destinations on the way back and forth.

The government has won a challenge. EBOMAF held a bet. The land link between the Burkina Faso capital and the city of Bankuy now benefits from a modern road. The end of the execution of this road project took place within the legal deadline, i.e. before 30 November 2013. Since that date, the successful contractor, EBOMAF, has brilliantly fulfilled its part of the contract as recommended by the specifications. The dual-way road meets the international standards laid down by UEMOA.

2A hundred-thirty (130) kilometres long, the new road infrastructure, linking Koudougou to Dédougou, is seven (7) metres wide in the countryside and ten (10) metres in the agglomeration. It is built according to the gravillage system i.e. a two-layered pavement with a surface coating. The section has a traffic-related signalling system. It has more than one hundred and fifty (150) works of art and sanitation including three (3) major bridges: Tenado, Lanfiera and Mouhoun. The construction model of the Koudougou-Dédougou road is technically different from the Ouagadougou-Sakonse road with which a comparison is wrongly established. The RN 14 was built in the image of Ouagadougou-Ouahigouya. It is by means of circulation that the roadway will become more stable.
