The work of the bypass roads of the capital city of Burkina Faso was the subject of a high-level inspection, Thursday, January 11, 2023, by the Minister of Infrastructure and Unenclavement, Adama Luc Sorgho. At the head of the strong delegation, he reviewed the project in the presence of the President-General of the EBOMAF Group, Mahamadou Bonkoungou.

The project for the construction of the bypass road of the Grand Ouaga, whose total cost is estimated at 237 billion 060 million 975 thousand 129 CFA francs, aims to reduce congestion in the main arteries of the city in order to ensure the fluidity of traffic and the safety of users. On Thursday 11 January 2024, the construction site of the city of Ouagadougou's North-South bypass project reached 87%, for a period of 79%.

It is a 125 km motorway in two double tracks which starts in the village of Yimdi in the commune of Tanghin-Dassouri in the form of a ring road. It passes through the provinces of Kadiogo, Kurweogo, Oubritenga and Bazega, and crosses the rural communes of Tanghin-Dassouri, Souroubila, Pabré, Loumbila, Saaba, Koubri, Saponé, Komsilga and borough 4 of Ouagadougou.

According to the company's technicians in charge of the work, the total length of 125 km for bypasses North and South. "The work that is going well," says Firmin Combary, General Coordinator of the bypass construction project. In terms of the realization of the works, there are 175 Dalots out of 177 have been completed; 2 bridges out of 3 are completed; 5,424 linear metres (ml) of cannels were placed on the 20 124 ml produced. For the Director General of Road Infrastructure, Grégoire Aimé Yaguibou, on a 125 km stretch, there is only 17 km left of road to be bitumen between National Road 1 and National Road 6. The Minister of Infrastructure and De-enclavement, Adama Luc Sorgho, is pleased with the progress of the work

We are satisfied," said Adama Luc Sorgho, Minister of Infrastructure and Unlocking.

According to EBOMAF Group CEO Mahamadou Bonkoungou, the construction of the bypass is in its last straight line. Especially since the works have an overall rate of progress of 87%. "The work progresses very well in the rules of art," he said.

The CEO of the EBOMAF Group explained the impact of the VOCID-19 pandemic on the work schedule. Indeed, this health crisis caused the construction site to be suspended for about a year and caused inflation, which multiplied the purchase price of the materials by 10. "A construction site is a whole. That is why we are talking about the percentage of promotion and the amount of time consumed. The rest of the work, where you have not noticed bitumen, will come with the delay. As Burkinabe, it's a pride. I was going to say that I can compare this periphery to the peripheral boulevard of Paris. It is technically well done, I assure you", reassured Mahamadou Bonkoungou, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Group.
