EBOMAF's know-how is shown a second time in Benin. It has just been commissioned to build a modern road infrastructure to international standards between Parakou and Wèwè, Lot 1 of the Parakou-Djougou road rehabilitation project. It will rebuild a work that guarantees road safety and sustains intense traffic. After the Bodjecali-Madecali-Frontière construction site of Nigeria in the Alibori region, whose work is at its final stage, Mahamadou Bonkoungou's company will mark the seventy-three (73) kilometres of the 136.6 kilometres of this major road project launched by President Thomas Yayi Boni.

The work entrusted to EBOMAF will be carried out to the tune of CFAF 31.704 billion in Tax Free (HT) and will spread over twenty-four (24) months. Financing is provided by the West African Development Bank (WADB), the ECOWAS Investment and Development Bank (BIDB) and the Beninese State."With the award of Parakou-Wèwè, it is a new era that is opening up for our society in Benin. We are aware of the challenge to be met in order to further merit the confidence of the Beninese authorities and people. We are serene because we have the necessary expertise and all the capacity to hold this new bet.", said Mahamadou Bonkoungou, CEO of the successful company.

The rehabilitation of the Parakou-Wèwè section consists of the realization, from Parakou on a length of 11.5 kilometres, of a wide boulevard, a 2X2-lane structure with a central ground (TPC) and on the rest of Lot 1, a road with ECOWAS standards. The work also concerns the (re)construction of several hydraulic and sanitation works, as well as the installation of adequate road signs and equipment."The aim of the rehabilitation work on the Parakou-Djougou road is to contribute, on the one hand, to the acceleration and strengthening of road construction in the Community area and, on the other hand, to increasing the efficiency of road transport, with a view to stimulating economic and social development and regional integration",said Natondé Aké, Minister of Public Works and Transport.

Benin relies on African leader of the BTP

The Head of State, Thomas Yayi Boni, has incorporated his efforts to modernize the national road network into a dynamic of structuring projects:"The development of the Parakou-Djougou road, classified as a corridor by the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), falls within the framework of the continuation of the policy of the major works, the battle horse of the government to make Benin an emerging country".With the official launch of the rehabilitation work on this essential axis of the Beninese corridor, Sunday 22 June in Parakou, it is a wind of relief that has blowed on the inhabitants of the areas concerned. The use of EBOMAF by the Beninese authorities to carry out major works reflects a willingness to rely on proven expertise to build quality infrastructure on time. Moreover, the reputation of the successful contractor is unanimously recognised in the West African sub-region, notably in Burkina Faso, Togo, Guinea-Conakry and soon in Côte d'Ivoire.

A reassuring step, the CEO of EBOMAF Group, Mahamadou Bonkoungou, gives regional leadership to his company. The Parakou-Djougou axis built in 1995-96 is currently suffering from a very advanced state of degradation. The riparian populations strongly hope that their calvary will end within two years of the project."The completion of the work is eagerly expected to bring to an end the ordeal of the users, which is summed up in recurrent accidents on this unworkable road which must be covered in three hours or more, often at the cost of his life and his vehicle",entrusted Soulé Alagbé, Mayor of Parakou. EBOMAF is already spreading its capabilities on the site. It has undertaken an impressive deployment of its personnel and equipment to start this project in an irreversible momentum and win this new challenge.
