EBOMAF-BF: Inousa Ouedraogo, Coordinator of Works of the South Ouagadougou roundabout: "All the conditions are met to succeed this road project"
A civil engineer, Inousa Ouédraogo is the head of the technical team coordinating the work of the southern bypass of the city of Ouagadougou, i.e. the Gampéla-Koubri-Yimdi section. Started, strictly speaking, on 4 October 2009, the site recorded considerable gains.
After a few months of execution, where are you at with the work of the Southern Contour that you coordinated?
The part concerning us i.e. Contouring Sud departs from Gamplela (RN4) to Yimdi (RN1) via Koubri (RN5) and the Route de Léo (RN6). It is about fifty-nine (59) kilometres long. In general, the North-South bypass work of the city of Ouagadougou consists of the construction of a road with 2x2 lanes with bicycle strips and agglomeration ramps.
The roadway is separated by a central plain (TPC) ten (10) metres wide. The activities on the South bypass currently concern earthworks and works of art. The earthworks cover more than one (1) million cubic metres of work. As for works of art, there are ninety (90) to be executed.
Activities are currently concentrated between Gamplela (RN4) and Koubri (RN5). This portion of the road is twenty-eight (28) kilometres long. To date (NDLR: Tuesday 19/05/2020), the works are effective for twenty-three (23) kilometres.
They're just at the entrance to the town of Koubri. The part not yet started is the one whose occupants are not yet compensated and disbanded. All activities are normally carried out. Of the twenty-three (23) kilometres of earthworks already completed, the foundation has already reached ten (10) kilometres. The impregnation is about to begin. This will lead to the beginning of the application of black, i.e. the bitumen, namely the serious bitumen (GB) and the bitumen concrete (BB). There are thirty-six (36) works of art between Gamplela and Koubri. Apart from two (2) major works to be completed soon, everything else has been completed to date.
What human, material and technical means do you have to carry out the work properly?
The construction of Contouring Sud is based on a very good organization of work. The staff consists of engineers, senior technicians, technicians, skilled workers, manoeuvring. Not to mention the task. There are day and night teams. In total, over four hundred (400) workers are involved in this project. The material resources for earthworks and works of art are impressive. We benefit from various equipment (equipment, machines) that have the peculiarity of being new and latest generation. This allows you to move quickly and be ahead of time.
The South bypass seems to be split into two parts. In addition to Gamplela (RN4)-Koubri (RN5), there is Koubri (RN5)-Route de Léo (RN6)-Yimdi (RN1). What about the work of the second part?
On the second part of Koubri (RN5)-Route de Léo (RN6)-Yimdi (RN1), we have already anticipated works of art that number fifty-four (54). It will soon be the rainy season. After this period, earthworks will begin.
What can be retained of the giratory sense being finished on the RN4?
In fact, there is a great girratory direction to each crease between the bypass road and a national road (RN). The RN4 is being completed. It is a roundabout direction of about fifty (50) metres in diameter, including a concrete sidewalk, a paved central part and landscaping. There are also directional ilots and straps.
The bypass of the city of Ouagadougou is, to date, the largest road project ever carried out in Burkina Faso. As an experienced civil engineering engineer, having dragged your bump to other construction sites, what are the advantages of the contracting company to succeed in implementing this project?
Firstly, it should be noted that this project is based on a very good working organisation which starts from the hierarchy of the contracting undertaking at the base. This is not always obvious for a national company. This is a major asset for the success of such a project. Secondly, there are the physical and technical capabilities specific to the company. They are immense, impressive, diverse and varied. Equipment and facilities are at the forefront of technology. It's last generation equipment. All workstations are equipped with new equipment and equipment. Which increases yields. Thirdly, the site has good human resources. There is a combination of the skills of highly qualified national staff and international expertise from around the world. This means that upstream and downstream there are not too many concerns in the execution of the work.
The structure of the North-South bypass road is composed of a foundation based on litho-stab materials mixed with crushed from the quarry. The base is in serious bitumen (GB) and a bitumen concrete (BB) coating to crown it all. So this is a noble roadway. This road will be of a very good quality which is expected to last very long. All the conditions are in place for this road project to succeed. We are aware that this is a major project. The human and material resources deployed as well as the methodology and work schedule confirm the performance and reputation of EBOMAF, which are praised here and elsewhere. We are confident and hope to close it on a good date.
