Rehabilitation of the RN 1 of Togo: Dressing the Lomé road is on its way

Under the bulldozers of "Entreprise Bonkoungou Mahamadou & Fils" (EBOMAF), the national road 1 of Togo, Lomé-Ougadougou, started its moult since 1 December 2011. The work related to this new skin is more than 60 kilometres from the Burkina Faso border to Tandjouaré. Reputated for its impracticability, this tranche will be transformed into a true modern road infrastructure in the first half of 2013.

In sixteen (16) months, the road leading to Lomé, from the border of Burkina Faso, will be restyled. His rehabilitation is currently under way. It aims to give this major axis in sub-regional trade the image of a truly Community way. It is said to be one of the most frequented areas in ECOWAS and UEMOA. This attention is paid to 65,452 kilometres, the most degraded part of the road linking the hinterland (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger). In the wake of the deadline and the requirement of the specifications, the EBOMAF Group is still trying to carry out this major Togo road project called "Rehabilitation and strengthening of the national road 1 on the Tandjouaré-Cinkanssé-Frontière section of Burkina Faso".

As soon as the contract was concluded following an open international call for tenders, immediately a low-level bid was put in place at PK 00, a few blocks away from Cinkanssé's juxtaposed post, to carry out this ambitious project properly. Engineers, technicians and workers stand in a spirit of vigilance, coordination and self-sustaining to ensure the quality of the work, with all appropriate technical and material skills. The work is surrounded by a high dose of speed and quality.

The new infrastructure has been designed taking into account the requirements of growing traffic. In concrete terms, the work on "Rehabilitation and strengthening of the RN 1 on the Tandjouaré-Cinkassé-Burbo Faso border section" comprises two aspects: a 4.2-kilometre bypass of the city of Cinkanssé and the re-looking of the Lomé axis. The aim is to give international dimensions to the road: to expand the platform and rebuild the roadway with a real consistency. The construction process is as follows: foundation layer, cement floor base layer, serious bitumen (GB), bituminous concrete (BB), marking. All sanitation and art works will also be expanded. General earthworks are very advanced.
