Airport work: EBOMAS relooke San Pedro airport
The work of"Rehabilitation and reinforcement of the San Pedro airport areas of movement", executed by EBOMAF, are almost finished. On Monday 19 March, the Ivorian Minister of Transport, Amadou Koné, paid tribute to a brilliantly accomplished work.
San Pedro airport has a new face. The airline Air Côte d'Ivoire resumes its daily flights on this second port city of the country, suspended since September 2017 due to the work of"Rehabilitation and strengthening of areas of movement". It can now even use its Airbus A 320 to serve the locality. This brand new tarmac will also benefit the presidential plane and many other companies.
Started on 14 September 2017 under the EBOMAF maestria, the project allowed the airport infrastructure to become new." All stakeholders in the work, particularly the successful contractor, should be congratulated here. As master of the work, we find with satisfaction and admiration that the order was respected to the letter. What has been achieved is what we have asked. It must be stressed: it is a new track and a new parking lot that have been completely renovated », said Amadou Koné, Minister of Transport, at the end of his visit at the end of the construction site on Monday 19 March.
President Alassane Ouattara and Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly twice sent him to the scene. Because the rehabilitation and strengthening of San Pedro airport is an essential part of Côte d'Ivoire's 2020 Emergence Plan of the presidential term. Conducted in two phases of three months each, a total of six (06) months, the work focused on resizing existing structures so that the airport could now accommodate large aircraft.
The first phase consisted of"Rehabilitation of the 15 m centre of the runway on a 1,900 m linear with a 100 m stop extension on both sides of the thresholds over a width of 30 m and of the shoulder". The second was devoted to"Strengthening of the entire rehabilitated runway including ramp and parking".In order to carry out this work, EBOMAF has put the double bites also to confirm its expertise in the major works as well as to keep within the contractual deadlines. The runway now has a range of 2,100 m (2.1 km) over 30 m wide with 24 cm thick coated over 15 m central and 18 cm thick on both sides. The parking lot also enjoyed the same consistency.
Another successful step in airport development
A total of 45,000 tons of serious bitumen (GB) and bituminous concrete (BB) were required at the San Pedro airport moult. Human, material and technical capabilities have been diligently deployed to go quickly and well. Moreover, the Ivorian State, under the leadership of President Alassane Ouattara, has certain ambitions for the development of San Pedro, including its air blockade. This coastal city in the South-West is home to the country's second port dedicated to the export of raw materials. It is also the first indoor resort most served by Air Côte D的Ivoire.
In the light of this challenge, both political and economic, 385 workers (managers and supervisors, support staff, skilled and unqualified workers) as well as 102 machines of all types and various installations (geotechnical equipment, generator, d'enromé) were mobilised to hold the bet. The National Bureau of Technical and Development Studies (BNETD) and the Société de développement et d'exploitation des aéronautiques, de l'aéronautique et de la temps (SODEXAM) have supervised the work from end to end through the monitoring and control of the site. Their representatives on the visit reassured the government's envoy, Amadou Koné, of the quality and performance of the rehabilitated and strengthened areas of movement. This visit very soon announces the official inauguration and opening of the airport infrastructure.
Despite the weather caused by a high rainfall over 45 days, EBOMAS won this other challenge of its presence in the Ivorian BTP. In addition, a gain of about fifteen days over the contractual period of six (06) months. At an initial cost of CFAF 14.576 billion, the amount of the project could change the final count due to a number of amendments." There is no airport infrastructure that our company cannot currently carry out. We benefit from know-how and expertise that have proved their worth in several countries. We have adequate human, material and technical capabilities."said Adama Rouamba, Secretary General of the EBOMAF Group.
Indeed, the relooking of San Pedro airport is not a test in airport facilities. EBOMAF has already strengthened the car park at Ouagadougou airport and the parking circuits of the Burkina Faso Army Air Base and the rehabilitation of Conakry airport in Guinea. It was also she who led the entire work of the airfields of Fada N的Gourma and Ouahigouya as part of the commemoration of December 11 in Burkina Faso.
